Javelin Power is an Australian based renewable energy company that focuses on providing bio-fuel. Our brief was to create a visual identity and a website that explained the benefits of the company's services. The project included, a logo, corporate identity, web design and marketing material.
The identity designed for Javelin Power is an abstract representation of a lightening bolt that can also be interpreted as a javelin. Each blade was constructed using a triangle slanting in a 45 degree angle as this is considered the best angle to throw a javelin. After flipping the blade to create the bottom half the sharp vectors were rounded evenly to create a smoothly curving contour.
The logo consists of three layers, highlight, base tone and shadows. To create an interesting depth to the logo the blades were shaded in such a way that made it appear like it was being twisted. By having a raised joint centerpiece it further reinforced the javelin.
Two color versions of the logos were created for final delivery. Venera is a typeface designed by Joe Prince, it was chosen for its futuristic and technological forms.
It was important for the website to be in context of its target market therefore research material supporting the benefits of using bio-fuel had to be strongly considered as part of the design process.
Overall the client was very pleased to receive branding that was simple, professional that reinforced its name, Javelin Power has been a Nu Nomen client ever since.
